Composting... with worms....at home?
Say what?
Get the tools and knowhow at this "vermicompost" workshop on Tuesday, August 18, 6:30-8:00 pm at Shissler Rec Center, 1800 Blair St.
Children accompanied by a parent are welcome!
Composting your food waste doesn't need to be in some far-off locale. You can do it right in your own home. Red wiggler worms eat your vegetable scraps and shredded newspaper to produce organic liquid "worm tea" fertilizer and nutrient-packed soil.
Learn the basics at this workshop sponsored by Sustainable 19125/19134.
The $15 workshop fee provides participants with a self-made 3-tier worm composting system, and 500 red wiggler worms.
A good location for your worms is indoors, ideally a basement, so plan accordingly. And don't worry, it doesn't stink and the worms won't want to escape their home into yours!
Refreshments will be provided!
